Redline Assured Security, part of the Air Partner Group, is looking for an individual with proven experience in copyediting and proofreading; a person who is able to apply an excellent knowledge of grammar and spelling to undertake the copyediting of material being created by Redline subject matter experts (SMEs) and to conduct the final proofreading of material to ensure it is free from error on its release for internal or external use. This is a wide-ranging role, which will require the right candidate to be able to not only ensure documents are free from error, but also written in the appropriate style for the intended audience, ensuring the material is consistent, cohesive and complete. Furthermore, they will be expected to support the development of the SMEs to improve consistency in the creation of original material.
What you will be doing
Copy editing, you will be expected to:
Check for and correct errors in grammar, spelling, syntax and punctuation.
Check for technical consistency in spelling, capitalisation, font usage, numerals, hyphenation, etc.
Check for inconsistencies within the material, including conflicting information.
Check for continuity errors and completeness.
Check for factually incorrect statements and on occasion use reference material.
Ensure the readability of the material meets Redline and client expectations (different levels of English language, simplified for translation, etc.).
Check for potential legal liability to ensure the material does not libel others.
Proofreading, you will be expected to:
Undertake the final examination of all material being released for use internally or issued to clients.
Review for spelling errors, punctuation and typeface errors, typographical errors or incorrect use of regional English (Redline have UK and American clients).
Ensure the material meets the required style for the project (in-house, client-specific, tender submission, training programme, etc.).
Improve the flow and structure of the final material.
In addition to copy editing and proofreading, you will be expected to:
Develop your knowledge of aviation security and the subject matter under review.
Collaborate across Redline departments, supporting multiple departmental managers.
Work with a wide range of SMEs throughout the business to develop effective written communication required for multiple audiences.
Implement best practice, supporting the improvement of standards across the business.
Educate and develop SME ‘contributors’ to reduce error rate in material submitted for final review.

A meticulous, efficient approach to your work.
A keen eye for detail and consistency.
An ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
Advanced use of proofing tools within MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Desirable Experience:
Aviation security and / or an education background.
Proven experience as a Copyeditor, Proof-reader or Technical Author.
